Crappy craps in Costa Rica

9 September 2007

Frank:

Just wanted to update you on some craps outside the US. I was in Costa Rica for three weeks, and played some dice at a casino in San Jose, the capital city. I suffered my first loss in a long time, about $2000. The betting limits were horrible, as were the odds.

The low bet was 5$, which was OK, but the high bet was $200, which is really poor. The max odds bet was 2X, except on the 6/8 (2.5X odds), which is also really poor. I did get my favorite shooting spot, #1 right of stick, and I was up by $500 and was going to quit at $1000 profit, but never made it and ended up blowing my bankroll of 2K.

Well, anyway, I'm going to stick to Lake Charles (10-10,000 and 20X odds) in the future, and maybe occasionally Vegas for the fun of it, even though the limits are not quite as good as at Lake Charles. If you ever want a free trip to Lake Charles for some awesome craps play, let me know.

I really liked your story about the Captain's record-setting roll of 147 rolls at Atlantic City [www.goldentouchcraps.com/captainrolls147.shtml]. My home record is 33 rolls, and I've never had anyone count my casino rolls, but I think I got close to 50 on one hot roll in Lake. Charles when I made about 12K on one roll. I got a standing ovation, which was really cool. So 147 is utterly amazing.

Sincerely,
Pete

Dear Pete:

Thanks for the update. There are so many casinos in America that are giving 5X or more in odds that it does seem a waste of time to play inferior games. Do you remember when craps only had 1X odds? Then 2X became a big deal. Now 2X is the worst you'll find.

As for the Captain's record-breaking roll of 147, yes it is a wow! He also rolled 100 as well. He is the "father" of modern controlled shooting and all of our Golden Touch dice control classes are based on his teachings. Why not learn from the best?

My best roll was an 89 and that was amazing. I don't know if I got an ovation because - I was clapping for myself!

For your great letter I am giving you a free week on my members-only private web site at www.goldentouchcraps.com. We have over 5,000 subscribers and the posts are interesting, educational and fun. I think you'll enjoy it.

All the best in and out of the casinos!
