Can you help me with the 3V set?

21 August 2008

Dear Frank:

I just ordered the following books: Dice Control for Casino Craps by Yuri, Wake Up Crap Shooters by Charles C Westcott, The Captain's Crap Revolution by Frank Scoblete and Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution! by Frank Scoblete and Dominator. Are there any other books about dice control that I should buy?

I have some dice setting questions. I'm looking at the 3V set. It shows the two 3s facing up with the point of the V facing towards the shooter. And facing the shooter is a 2 on the left die and a 6 on the right die.

Does it make a difference if the shooter rotates both dice to have something different facing up? For example if he rotates both dice twice and has the two 4s facing up, will that change what numbers will be expected to be thrown? With the original set described above, a 6 is on the left die and on 2 on the right die touching each other and cannot be seen. Does this mean there is a greater chance that an 8 will be thrown with this set if the dice go off axis?

Now if I leave both dice on the table and turn the left die two quarter turns counter clockwise and turn the right die two quarter turns clockwise, a 5 shows on the left die and a 1 shows on the right die. And now there is a 1 and 5 on the inside touching each other that cannot be seen.

Does setting up the 3V set this way means there is a greater chance that a 6 will be thrown? Is there a difference in these two setups? Will one setup produce more 6s and the other produce more 8s?

Thanks,
Eddie

Hey Eddie,

Thanks for the question and I hope your interest in the great game of craps continues.

Not all dice control books are equal and the Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution! by Frank Scoblete and Dominator is by far the best, so read it many times since there is usually something that you gain in each reading. You might want to invest in our Golden Touch DVD Beating Craps by Controlling the Dice so that you can see exactly how the dice should look in the air and after they land. Most of our new students report that it has helped them quite a bit in their practice.

It takes a well-practiced shooter tossing to see a difference in the results from transposing dice sets like the 3V. After you become a proficient thrower you will notice that inverting your dice set alters your results slightly. Many of us do invert our sets to favor different numbers. Since we have many years of practice we have records to show us what to expect when we do so.

When your dice go off axis using the 3V set you have a much greater chance of seeing the seven not an eight or some other number, this is why the instructors here at Golden Touch Craps recommend using the hard way set, especially for beginners. Setting the dice in the hardway configuration gives a shooter more protection from the seven since one die must rote 180 degrees in relation to the other to show a seven. As you become more proficient at keeping the dice on axis you can move to the 3V or 2V set and have good results but not before you are ready and have proven your skill through many thousands of rolls.

The best way to test your dice throwing skill is by using the SmartCraps program to record your results. This special program records your roll results and tests your skill using three "pro tests." It tests for on and off axis results and primary and secondary hits. SmartCraps will also suggest alternate dice sets as your skill improves.

Good luck in your quest to conquer the great game of craps.
