A "Sob" story

19 August 2007

Hi, Frank,

Last weekend I was at Turning Stone, playing a $5 table. No one was at the table. I was having some good rolls. When Mega Ploppy buys in for $5000 after I just sevened out.

Frank, you could smell his breath across the table. The dealer asked him if he ate a skunk. He comes over to me and states, "Your the kind of guy that Sob writes about. You throw the way he describes in his book Beat the Craps Out of The Casino. I'm going to do everything you do."

He passes the dice to me. I almost vomited his breath was so bad. I placed the inside number $32. Mega buys all the numbers for $640 across. I roll 14 numbers and shut off. He does the same. I seven out on the 15th roll. He made around $700 I'm up on this roll about $30.

Mega Ploppy says, "Let's do it again".

Every time he hits, he presses his numbers and repeats, "Sob writes about this." Now he close to $2000 across the numbers. I need to get oxygen. The waitress brings him over a drink. Ploppy says I didn't order one. The waitress told him "it's on the house. Drink your peppermint schnapps."

He drinks down and swishes around his mouth and swallows and says, "That's good." I roll a 16 and a 17 but the dice aren't landing the way they were. I'm tired. I shut off. I told him to shut off. Mega looks at me and says, "Sob says in his books these rolls can last a long time. Keep rolling the bones." I seven-out.

I made about $60 that roll. Mega Ploppy looks at me and says. "I made 800 thanks." I color up and leave the table. Mega Ploppy follows me and asks me "where did you learn to throw like that?" I looked at him straight in the eyes and said, "His name is Frank Scoblete, not Sob, and he is my dice mentor. He and the Dominator taught me to throw."

The Mega Ploppy's jaw drops. He yells out to me and says, "You're a disciple of Sob?" I just walked away. Mega Ploppy is telling everyone and goes back to the craps table. Tells the dealers I just talked to a "disciple of Sob. That guy that was throwing is a disciple of Sob."

Frank, I left as fast as I could and went to my room. My wife Linda told me later when she passed by the craps table that some guy at the table was babbling about a "disciple of Sob" and that "they" are in all the casinos.

All the best,
Michael

Dear Michael:

I meet them all the time.

Sob
