In Brief: I-Gaming Tax Bill Clears Dutch Senate9 September 2008
The Dutch Senate today passed a proposal that extends gambling taxation to cover Internet-based games of chance, Justin Franssen, a lawyer with Van Mens & Wisselink in Amsterdam, confirmed to IGamingNews via e-mail. According to a statement by the Eerste Kamer, the country's Senate, the amendment modifies the prevailing taxation law -- the Dutch Betting and Gaming Act -- for domestic providers of "illegal" online gaming, as well as for individuals who win at foreign online gaming sites. The tax scheme will be based on that of the country's table games. IGN will follow up with more information tomorrow.
