DoylesRoom.com Returns to Real-Money US

18 October 2007

After six months away, online poker site DoylesRoom.com is reopening its doors to U.S. customers.

Doylesroom.com, endorsed by poker pro and 10-time World Series of Poker winner Doyle Brunson, announced on Wednesday that as of Oct. 19, the site will once again accept real-money U.S. players, except those from the 12 states that have express written laws prohibiting Internet gaming.

A spokesperson for the company explained the timing of the decision.

"The key reason DoylesRoom.com initially pulled out of the states was the safety of our player's funds mostly due to the processor pullouts, etc., after the signing of HR 4411," the spokesperson told IGN. "Things have now stabilized. There are promising signs from lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C., and most importantly, the availability of processing options for the players that will ensure the safety of their funds."

In February Doyle's Room closed its U.S.-facing operation due to the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), despite previous declarations that it would remain in the market.

"In view of the passage of the [UIGEA] and the cessation of operations by Neteller and other payment processors, the management of DoylesRoom.com has reluctantly decided not to permit online real-money play by U.S.-based players," the company stated in February.

Following the closure, Doyle's Room left the Tribeca Tables platform for the Microgaming Network, and its players were given the option of moving to Full Tilt Poker, which decided not to close its doors to U.S. players.

Doyle's Room on Wednesday said U.S. players who moved their accounts to Full Tilt would be able to once again access their existing accounts on DoylesRoom.com.

U.S. players will be able to make deposits via EPassport, Western Union and MoneyGram transfers, but the company anticipates accepting Visa and MasterCard payments within the next few days.

"We are currently pursuing alternative credit card processor options," the spokesperson said.
