Winning Craps

1 October 2010

The latest book on craps written by Frank Scoblete is, in my opinion, the best book on the subject in print. The title is Casino Craps, Shoot to Win and it is published by Triumph Books.

This is a book about controlled shooting. As such, it is no surprise that Frank's co-author is Dominator. But before I get to the subject of controlled shooting, let me say that in the first three chapters of the book there is a wealth of knowledge about the game itself. Specifically there is a lot of information about wagers available to the player and the corresponding house edges. The information about buy bets, for example, is exhaustive and not readily available elsewhere. Even if you're a seasoned craps player I believe that it is well worth your time to read these three chapters.

Controlled shooting. Some people doubt that there is such a thing. It is my guess that these folks have not really taken a serious look at the subject. I have taken the Golden Touch course and have also played in casinos with the Golden Touch crew and have witnessed firsthand the controlled shooting phenomenon. It is not easy, that is for sure, but it is a real thing. So how does it work?

There are three components to it: setting the dice, the grip, and the throw. Each of these has many nuances. This book covers each of these topics in detail and with lots and lots of pictures. Here is the best part. The book comes with a CD that shows Dominator illustrating various sets, grips, and deliveries. It is the next best thing to actually being at the table with Dom. I suggest first reading the book's chapters on setting, gripping, and delivering so that you fully understand these techniques and then watching the CD. Of course that won't make you a controlled shooter. That takes practice, practice, practice. But it will get you started.

At a cover price of $19.95 this book is a really good deal. If you plan on becoming a controlled shooter you should own this book. See you next month.
