Odawa Casino Resort announces job fairs

17 January 2007

The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, which owns and operates Victories Casino and Hotel, is in the process of constructing a new resort, Odawa Casino Resort on Cemetery Road near Petoskey, Michigan. As the Tribe gears up for the opening of the new resort, it has announced that it will be holding three job fairs in an effort to fill the 550 openings at the hotel resort and casino.

The first job fair took place on Monday, at the Victories Hotel on US 131 in Petoskey. The Tribe will be holding two additional job fairs on February 12 and March 10, which will also take place at the Victories Hotel.

Persons interested in applying for one of the 550 openings can visit the Victories Casino Web site at www.victories-casino.com/faq.html. The Web site also includes answers to several questions potential employees may have as they explore a career in the casino gaming industry. Individuals interested in specific job openings can also obtain a list of these openings at www.victories-casino.com/employment.html.

The Odawa Casino Resort will include 1,500 slot and video gaming machines, an 8-story hotel complex and a 1,000-seat entertainment venue. The Tribe is on track to have the project finished during 2007, and has stated it will begin opening certain areas of the property as they are completed.

The hotel will have 250 guest rooms and the restaurant will be able to seat about 110 guests. There will also be a large pool complex near the hotel and gaming floor. Parking is also included in the plan, with spaces for 2,000 vehicles. Approximately 1,000 of those vehicles will be housed in a two-tier parking structure that will be built on the site.

The casino gaming industry is exciting and dynamic, and is one area of Michigan's economy that is adding jobs. Individuals with outgoing personalities that enjoy interacting with people should consider the opportunities this industry has to offer.
