Casino Management Association Takes Shape in Michigan

The Casino Management Association, a national organization headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, plans to formally recognize a Detroit/Windsor Chapter this September at the Northern Gaming Summit. Despite the proliferation of casinos throughout the country, the Detroit/Windsor Chapter will become only the second nationally sanctioned branch of the organization. "We are excited about the partnership we have formed in Michigan," said CMA Board member Tony Lewin. "There seems to be a lot of interest in the educational and networking opportunities our group can supply."

The CMA was originally formed in 1994 as a professional association for management level casino employees. In 1998, a Las Vegas Chapter was formed. In recent years, the CMA has developed strong ties with the University of Nevada at Las Vegas School of Hospitality, providing enhanced educational seminars in addition to the networking opportunities. The CMA has developed a certification series designed to provide casino workers with ways to enhance their training and to have it reflected on their resum
