Morning Brief: Hook, Line and Sinker

19 September 2008

As anticipated by IGamingNews last week, Jon Salmon, the managing director of Intercasino's ad agency, AdsDotCom, has been appointed chief marketing officer of PartyGaming.

A prepared statement from the company this morning, however, neither specified which projects Mr. Salmon will oversee, nor the nature of his relationship with Sabin Brooks, Party's marketing director.

Playtech Ltd., the London software developer, has done a second deal for its Italian tournament-style poker network with Eurobet Italia, Gala Coral Group's Italy-facing sports book.

The first was done with Snai S.p.A., Italy's largest offline betting operator.

The Eurobet deal has gone over well with the market, as the company's recently struggling shares are up 13.25 pence, or 3.10 percent, to 440.75 pence.

"We are not adjusting forecasts following the Eurobet agreement, but it underpins Playtech’s numbers as well as its Italian expansion strategy," James Hollins, an analyst with Daniel Stewart & Co. in London, wrote in a research note this morning.
