Morning Brief: Early Days

29 September 2008

As of 5 p.m., British Summer Time, no new news regarding the dispute between Trillion Ltd. and Boss Media A.B. Phone calls to Robert K. Vincent, a spokesman for Gtech Corporation, and Andy Pyrah, the chief executive of Pokertrillion, have yet to be returned.

With PartyGaming having relaunched its poker platform, one analyst who requested anonymity told IGamingNews this morning that initial returns have seen between a 5 percent and 10 percent decrease in traffic.

"Scout (Pokerscout.com) is claiming a 5 percent and 10 percent decrease in traffic," the analyst said in an e-mail. "But it's early days and we have seen before that: 1) When developments are made they often pump money into tournaments and so ring games suffer; 2) When platforms change, as we know, scraping readings might not be reliable until some changes are made to the scrappers."

John Shepherd, head of corporate communications for Party, told IGN this morning that because the marketing push for the new platform began today, it is simply too early to determine both the type and amount of liquidity it has drawn or lost.

"We won't be releasing data just yet, because of Stock Exchange rules about disclosure and also because we need to let the two big promotions settle in," Mr. Shepherd said in an e-mail.

With regard to future business-to-business deals involving its poker network, Mr. Shepherd declined comment.

Inspired Gaming Group, the server-based gaming specialist, has done a deal with Stanleybet International of the United Kingdom to provide its virtual sports system across the Stanleybet estate.

Inspired said the deal is expected to make a "significant contribution" to earnings over its five-year term.

"This contract with Stanleybet is a significant development for the Company," Norman V. Crowley, the co-chief executive of Inspired, said in a prepared statement. "With the focus now on developing our server-based gaming business and developing our international reach, Inspired is well positioned to capitalize on the significant opportunities in the markets we serve."

WagerWorks, the software development arm of International Game Technology, has done a deal with Orbis Technology Ltd. to have its "rgs" -- or remote game server -- system integrated with the Orbis OpenBet platform.

The rgs system, WagerWorks says on its Web site, allows an operator to "optimise its online games mix by adding WagerWorks games to their current iGaming platform without investing in a new casino system."

"This collaboration means Orbis customers can now easily expand their game offering to include some of the most recognised brands and game formats in the world," Michael Probert, a client services manager with WagerWorks, said in a prepared statement.
