Editor's Note: South Africa

20 May 2008

Interactive Gaming News on Monday morning issued a breaking news bulletin titled "South African Parliament Approves Regulatory Bill."

For the bulletin, Wayne Lurie, a South African attorney specializing in commercial, Internet and Internet-gaming-related law, was contacted by IGN staff to confirm a Reuters article that revealed the following:

"South Africa's parliament approved a new Internet gambling law to regulate an industry plagued by crime and vulnerable to money laundering and terrorism financing, parliamentary papers showed on Monday."

Mr. Lurie, in Paris at the time of the call, confirmed with IGN that legislative events had indeed transpired in South Africa.

However, in fairness to Mr. Lurie, he did not specify, as IGN indicated, that South Africa's Parliament had approved the National Gambling Amendment Bill.
