Gold Coast poker room moving to The Orleans

9 March 2011

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- The poker room at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino has been closed and its business has been transferred to The Orleans, a company spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

"The Orleans operates one of the busiest poker rooms in Las Vegas," said David Strow, Boyd Gaming Corp.'s corporate communications director. "Given the proximity, we felt it made sense to consolidate our poker business at The Orleans."

Strow said any points earned at the Gold Coast have already been transferred. He said the space, which closed last month, has been remodeled and will now host video poker tournaments.

"We previously did not have the capacity to host those tournaments," he said.

Boyd Gaming, based in Las Vegas, owns the Gold Coast, The Orleans, Sam's Town Hotel & Gambling Hall and Suncoast Hotel and Casino. In downtown Las Vegas, the company owns and operates the California Hotel & Casino, the Fremont Hotel & Casino and Main Street Station Casino Brewery and Hotel.
