Cantor Gaming has deal with Horse Racing United for online poker

30 July 2012

Cantor Gaming has reached an agreement with Horse Racing United to supply the technology and supporting infrastructure to offer online poker should the California Legislature approve online gaming, the company said Friday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal is subject to Horse Racing United being selected as one of a limited number of licensees to operate an intrastate gambling website.

Lee Amaitis, president and CEO of Cantor Gaming, said if legalized there was an opportunity to support the state's effort to generate new sources of revenue during these challenging budget times.

"As of other states begin to move to legalize online gaming, California is well positioned to leverage its size and generate revenue that otherwise would not exist," Amaitis said. "If enacted, it will provide additional support to California's horse racing industry."

Horse Racing United is a non-profit organization that represents the industry in California. Members include Santa Anita Park, Del Mar, Golden Gate Fields, and California Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

The online poker agreement is the second deal the Las Vegas-based company has signed in California. Cantor Gaming in June reached a deal to provide mobile gaming for Colusa Casino Resort, a tribal casino in Colusa, a town about 68 miles north of Sacramento.
