Intralot Signs Contract To Put Chile's Lottery On Internet

16 September 2003

Chile's state lottery organization, Polla Chilena Beneficencia awarded Intralot a six-year contract to introduce and maintain an online lottery system that will offer games through mobile phones, call centers, and the Internet.

Intralot de Chile, a subsidiary of Greece-based Intralot, is expected to completely incorporate the new platform into Intralot's LOTOS system for a launch by the end of the year.

Intralot signed a different seven-year contract in 2001 to supply, install, and support its integrated, distributed information system, called LOTOS, for online gaming via retail agents equipped with lottery terminals. That system has already been installed and has been operating since 2002 with the capability to provide and support pre-payment and post-payment systems and methods.

Under the newly signed contract, which is renewable for two years, Intralot will make Chile's lottery games accessible by mobile phone, call centers, and the Internet, and these new alternative channels will be connected to the same LOTOS system as the traditional channels.

All of Polla Chilena Beneficencia's games will be offered, including Lotto, Toto 3, Polla Gol, as well as instant lottery and traditional games. Within the first half of 2004 all the fixed odds betting games organized by the state lottery organization should be launched.

Intralot’s CEO, Mr. Constantinos Antonopoulos, said, “We are honored that Polla Chilena de Beneficencia trusted us for delivering this new contract. This demonstrates our efficiency on providing cutting-edge technological services. The supply of Polla Chilena de Beneficencia’s games via alternative sales networks is expected to contribute to the sales growth of the lottery."
