Best Poker Story Ever13 October 2006
Everyone loves a good poker story, and here's the wildest one I ever heard. Nine people playing $30-$60 Hold 'em, one player so drunk he can barely sit upright. The dealer deals two cards face down to each player. The first player raises, the second player raises, the drunk raises. Three players fold, but the others call. Here comes the flop: three garbage cards, but two of them are hearts. The first player raises, the second player raises, the drunk raises. Three players fold. The first two call. The dealer flops another heart. The first player raises, the second player raises, the drunk raises. The first two call. The dealer flops the last card. Five of clubs. The first player checks, the second player checks, the drunk bets the max. The other two fold. There's $3,000 in the middle of the table and the dealer shoves it all to the drunk. "Cards, please," he says in a bored voice. "Cards?" the drunk slurs. "Hell, I don't have any cards." It seems the dealer, who was seated next to the drunk, accidentally picked up the drunk's cards when the first three players folded. Sheer bedlam breaks out at the table as the poker room manager hurries over. "Did everybody else fold?" he asked. When told they did, he gave the pot to the drunk. So there you have it. The drunk won $3,000 . . . without any cards! If you can beat this story, let me know. This article is provided by the Frank Scoblete Network. Melissa A. Kaplan is the network's managing editor.
