Names and Faces -- Lewis Rose is being appointed the interim president and CEO of CryptoLogic, the Toronto-based gaming software supplier. Rose takes the place of Jean Noelting, who resigned Monday after a year and a half on the job. Rose has previously been president of Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. and president of Maple Leaf Foods' Grocery Products Division. The company is also appointing lawyer Robert Stikeman as its vice chairman.

Makin' Deals -- Global Entertainment Holdings/Equities Inc. said Friday that its subsidiary, Interactive Gaming and Wagering, is entering a licensing agreement to provide and Internet casino, sports book and horse book for Global Internet Corp. , its most recent licensee. ... eConnect is partnering with Alan J. Connor & Associates to form Bank eConnect. The company plans to start doing business in October. The bank will serve as a depository for eCashCard bank accounts. According to a press release from eConnect, people who set up accounts with eCashCard and Bank eConnect will be sent a free eCashPad, a piece of hardware that lets Internet consumers swipe their credit cards Bank Eyes Only-enabled Web sites.

Tidbit from the UK -- Betfair is recommending to the U.K. Jockey Club that trainers not be allowed to wager on horse races. Last month, a television program called Kenyon Confronts reported that trainers have been involved in race fixing. Mark Davies, director of communications for Betfair, said his company wants the public to feel that betting exchanges are fair. "Following a meeting (on Tuesday), we decided to stop short of not accepting bets from trainers, but we do now advocate trainers be banned from betting and, should the Jockey Club introduce the rule, we would be delighted to comply with it."
