Unflappable Lehavot finishes third at WSOP Main Event

5 November 2013

LAS VEGAS -- There isn't much that can disturb Amir Lehavot at the poker table.

On Monday afternoon and evening, during final table play at the World Series of Poker Main Event, Marc-Etienne McLaughlin's rail implored him to fold his small blind and a number of occasions when the action had been folded around to him.

Lehavot did comply a few times, but he also found spots to move all-in, much to McLaughlin's rail's chagrin, to pick up the blinds and antes. Lehavot, to his credit, said that the chanting crowds didn't affect his thought process too much.

"I know it's a big event," said Lehavot. "I'm happy for people to have fun, so I was happy people were having a good time. It didn't really impact my decisions."

Perhaps the most amazing thing about Lehavot's post-tournament demeanor was how at peace he was with the result. Some of the players who busted out on Monday were upset with how things went. Others still had adrenaline coursing through their veins and hadn't had time to process the result. Lehavot, however, seemed to have everything in perspective and was at peace with his third-place showing.

"I wished for better, but overall, yeah, I'm happy," he said after claiming just over $3.7 million in prize money.
