Top-10 tweets from the $50K at the WSOP4 July 2011
Many of the players who entered the Poker Player's Championship have a significant following on Twitter, and beyond chip counts and bad beat stories, you get a good insight into the players by reading what they post. Here are the top-10 tweets and/or exchanges via Twitter after two days of the Poker Player’s Championship. 10. $10 food voucher? Allen Bari wasn’t impressed with the $10 food voucher he received for registering for a $50,000 buy-in event. And he knew exactly whom to contact to complain about it. @allenbari (Allen Bari ) @AllenKessler just registered for 50k and got a $10 food voucher.. WTF?! @AllenKessler RT @allenbari @AllenKessler just registered for 50k and got a $10 food voucher.. WTF?!** I think u get a $100 voucher after u r seated. Players were given an additional $90 in credit on their Total Rewards cards. 9. Hellmuth pulling a Jordan Michael Jordan’s most memorable NBA finals performance came on a night when it looked like he might collapse from flu-like symptoms. And it sounds like Phil Hellmuth might be looking to pull a similar performance out in this year’s $50,000 event. @phil_hellmuth To my fans: Tell them all to "Beware of the sick man!" Time for me to do something special... -Phil Hellmuth Jr 8. First two-time winner? David Bach won this event when it was a H.O.R.S.E. tournament in 2009. Unfortunately for him, it was the only year ESPN opted not to broadcast the final table. @gunslingerbach Very Very Happy with my Day 1. Bagged up 249500. Bach ended Day 2 with 377,800 chips, good for 14th chip position out of 74 remaining players. 7. End of the line for Kid Poker Yeah, every player who enters this tournament wants to win. But no one is more public about it than Daniel Negreanu. Busting early on Day 2 was a disappointing result for Negreanu in the midst of a very tough stretch. @RealKidPoker Bad news: I'm out. Good news: I have friends in town to hang with and also still have the main event to turn around the worst WSOP of my life. 6. #You’reNotAllowedToComplain Yes, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, we all know it’s tough to lose when you have the nuts with one card to come. But you’ve already got four cashes, two final tables and your first WSOP bracelet this summer. Quit complaining about running bad. @elkypoker Sickest beat in PLO Allin on turn nuts vs set and he binks river. 110k instead of 220k. #whenwillitend #ineverwin #onedayillrungood 5. Paying attention to the ladies’ event Many of the players in the Poker Player's Championship were keeping tabs on what was going on at the ladies’ event, where non-lady Jonathan Epstein made the final table. Most thought he got what he deserved. @hoss_tbf(Matt Hawrilenko) Guy busts from final table of ladies' event and crowd erupts in chants of "shananana... Hey hey hey goodbye." #dontletdoorhityouonwayout 4. The best laid plans … Huck Seed used dinner break for something other than dinner to try to avoid the inevitable lethargy that often occurs in post-dinner break play. Unfortunately for him, it didn’t work out. @HuckleberrySeed Even though i went to the gym and didnt eat on the dinner break, i still experienced post dinner break meltdown. Gl all in the 50k @WSOP. 3. Leave BrokeLivingJRB alone! No one talks about the ups and downs of professional poker as openly as Jean-Robert Bellande. He played his heart out. Now, for God’s sake, leave the poor man alone when he busts out! @BrokeLivingJRB (Jean-Robert Bellande) Out. Really hoped to get a result this tourney. It seems that anything that could go wrong did. Heartbroken. Haters enjoy your "I told you so's" and to the 11 of my followers that still believe in me, so sorry to disappoint. #unfollowbrokelivingjrb 2. Good fold Sometimes you get a good read on someone. And then sometimes you see Phil Hellmuth jump out of his seat when he makes a bet. @DanOBrienPoker Lost a huge triple draw pot to hellmuth 3 ways. Saved a river bet folding to his overly excited bet with the 7 at least. 170k 1. Say it ain’t so, TexDolly! Maybe he’s just taking the ouster late in Day 2 badly. Maybe he just needs a day or two to cool down. But is Doyle Brunson really thinking of sitting out the Main Event? At least John Juanda has a good response! @TexDolly Busted... Total nightmare... Goodbye WSOP No main event for me. Maybe the DOJ will stake me. @LuckboxJuanda (JohnJuanda) With all the $ they've seized they can afford2 stake EVERYONE in main event. RT @TexDolly: No main event for me.maybe the DOJ will stake me. Related Links
