Microstakes player wins over $56,000 in PokerStars 50 billionth hand

22 September 2010

PokerStars player 'tbvle' won the biggest $.02/$.05 no limit Hold'em hand in Internet poker history on Wednesday, claiming $56,140 in prize money on top of the $46.25 he won for taking down the hand.

All six players at the six-handed table moved all-in before the flop, with tvbie's pocket queens having the best chance to win (about 41 percent). The flop of king-jack-10 was a dream for tbvle, as his queens were still the best hand and he also had an open-ended straight draw. The turn and river were both blanks, giving tbvle the pot, $50,500 in automatic prize money and an additional $5,640 for earning 11.28 VPP in the previous 50 hands.

It's not very surprising that the 50 billionth hand took place on a microstakes table. The vast majority of the hands played on PokerStars are no-limit Hold'em games at the $.01/$.02, $.02/$.05 and $.05/$.10 levels. And tbvle is no stranger to those games. According to PokerTableRatings.com, he's logged more than 288,000 hands over the last 16 months, averaging roughly 600 hands per day. He's been dealt into one of every 86,805 hands since PokerStars dealt its 25 billionth hand in February, 2009.

Never has

Never has 'tbvle' wanted pocket queens to hold up more than in PokerStars 50 billionth hand.

All six players at the table were rewarded with $500, plus $500 for each VPP they earned over the previous 50 hands at that table. The six players dealt into the hand also received free entry into the $5,200 World Championship of Online Poker on PokerStars, scheduled for Sept. 26.

As part of the 50 billion hand celebration, PokerStars rewarded players in 300 milestone hands, starting at 49.7 billion and at each million thereafter. The site will continue to run a promotion for sit-and-go players and three $50,000 freerolls for depositors will be run on September 25.
