Woman beaten outside Louisiana casino

COTEAU, Louisiana –- As reported by The Courier (Houma): "Outside the truck-stop casino where two of her coworkers were killed for money amid flashing lights and slot machines three years ago, a 60-year-old unarmed security guard faced her own attacker Saturday.

"Recovering from a clobbering that she said weakened her already-poor hearing, Cora Peters of Lockport shrugged off the violent encounter Monday as a desperate attempt by a 'little fella' to snag a few hundred bucks.

"The attack, as well as the one that claimed her coworkers' lives, is a dangerous inevitability that can happen to anyone with her job, Peters said.

"...Peters works two nights a week at Lucky's Casino on La. 182, the business where she worked as a full-time guard for five years before reducing her schedule last year.

"...Peters left the gas station carrying bundles of $5, $10 and $20 bills, a task she performs as many as four times each night if change is needed. The man, later identified by police as 27-year-old Jimmy Joseph Lebouef, allegedly followed..."
