US FTC Approves Penn National Deal to Buy Argosy

WASHINGTON -- As reported by Reuters: "U.S. antitrust authorities said on Wednesday they had approved plans by racetrack operator Penn National Gaming Inc. to buy riverboat gambling company Argosy Gaming Co.

"The FTC said it would not oppose the $1.4 billion deal after Penn National agreed to sell Argosy's Baton Rouge casino to Columbia Sussex Corp., assuaging competition concerns since the companies own the only two casinos in the Louisiana city.

"...Pennsylvania-based Penn National said in June it agreed to sell the Argosy Casino-Baton Rouge for $150 million..."
