Gaming NewsOklahoma casino holding Easter egg hunt13 April 2011CLAREMORE, Oklahoma -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Horses will gallop and children will scramble for Easter eggs April 23 at Cherokee Casino - Will Rogers Downs. Live racing begins at 12:30 p.m. but will be halted at 2 p.m. so more than 4,000 eggs full of candy can be hidden then found by children 10 years and younger. “We had our best turnout last year and expect to have even more families attend this year,” said Kelly Cathey, racing secretary for Will Rogers Downs. “We have added a couple of new stakes races to the schedule, so we hope families spend all day with us and enjoy the racing and egg hunt.” As part of the day’s 10-race schedule, racing officials are hosting two one-mile Oklahoma Stakes for the first time at the track. The first will feature 3-year-old thoroughbreds, and the second will feature 3-year-old fillies. Both races carry a purse of $50,000 guaranteed and include $10,000 from the OKB program, if eligible. Local favorite Darren Ray will play a free show at 2 p.m., and popular local country artist Joe Worrel will play at 9 p.m. Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs is located three miles east of Claremore on Highway 20. |
