Kenosha Leaders Sign Pact for Dairyland Casino29 March 2005MILWAUKEE – As reported by the Milwaukee Business Journal: "Government leaders from Kenosha County, the city of Kenosha and the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin have signed an agreement that promises an expected $521 million over 22 years for the city and county from the tribe's proposed casino at Dairyland Greyhound Park. "The signing represents a show of strong local support for the casino, the tribe said. The proposed casino and hotel development now requires federal and state approvals that are largely based on the level of local support. Plans include converting Dairyland into a casino with 3,100 slot machines and 75 table games, a 5,000-seat entertainment venue and 50,000 square feet of retail space. Another phase would add 400 more slot machines, a 400-room hotel, conference center and spa. "Supporters say the development will inject millions into the local economy each year and employ more than 3,300 people by the time it is complete in June of 2009…" |
