Chambers of commerce silent on casino question

PARIS, Maine -- As reported by the (Lewiston) Sun Journal: "Several chambers of commerce in and around Oxford County have taken no position on a question proposing a resort casino in Oxford.

"The $184 million Oxford Highlands Spa and Casino would be located along Route 26 and constructed over the course of five years, according to developers.

"Proponents argue that the development would create hundreds of jobs and add a huge revenue stream to the county. Opponents say the bill is flawed and would lead to increased financial and social problems.

"The question goes to a state referendum Nov. 4..."
