Kansas Casino Project Passes

KANSAS – As reported by the Winfield Courier: "Two county commissioners still approve a Sumner County casino project, but the board's chair said there is no point in showing support since the measure has died for lack of legislative backing.

"'I just felt like the governor and the senator from here do not support it,' said commission chair Carmelita Clarkson during a regular commission meeting held today in the courthouse assembly room.

"…Sumner County supporters had said the casino could generate 2,500 jobs and draw up to 1.5 million visitors each year. They claimed Cowley County could also gain financially from the casino's business and job opportunities…"
