Fantasy Springs Casino to screen Jones/Calzaghe fight

INDIO, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Fantasy Springs Resort Casino welcomes boxing fans, 21 and older, to see 2 of the sports finest fighters battle it out as JOE CALZAGHE takes on ROY JONES JR., Saturday evening, November 8th, 2008.

This exciting Light Heavyweight boxing match will be presented live from New York City's famous landmark venue, Madison Square Garden, on state of the art flat screen TVs throughout the casino, beginning at 6:00pm Pacific Time. Admission is FREE.

Welsh born Calzaghe comes into this bout with a staggering record of 45-0 with 32 KO's. Known for his tremendous speed and punching power, "Super" Joe has defeated the top fighters in the sport, including Bernard Hopkins, Mikkel Kessler and Peter Manfredo Jr. The 35 year old southpaw has his eyes on Joe Louis' record of 25 title defenses, but he will have to get past Roy Jones Jr. first.

Roy Jones Jr. is a man on a mission. His boxing record of 50-4 with 38 KO's is an impressive feat however he has endured heartbreaking setbacks, including losing the Gold Medal in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea and a 1997 disqualification after hitting Montell Griffin while he was down. A tactical boxer with plenty of determination, Roy Jones Jr. will lay it all on the line and possibly be remembered as the ultimate spoiler.
