Lawmaker wants gambling debate next session17 September 2008IOWA -- As reported by the Des Moines Register: "State lawmakers could be headed for a debate on Iowa's gambling industry during the legislative session that convenes in January. "A key lawmaker is proposing to permit Iowa taverns to install video keno machines, and Iowa House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Tuesday he is open to a discussion on awarding new gambling licenses for casinos proposed in Tama, Ottumwa, Fort Dodge, and Franklin and Lyon counties. "...The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission is planning to study a possible expansion of the state's gambling industry as proposals are floated to develop at least five additional casinos.
