Mississippi casino results dip

BILOXI, Mississippi -– As reported by the Sun Herald: "The slow economy hit Coast and Mississippi casinos in July, with gross casino revenues dipping 7 percent from last year.

"But anyone at Hard Rock Casino on Saturday night during back-to-back shows by comedian Jeff Foxworthy could see weekends still pack the Coast casinos.

"July's revenue was $115.7 million, about $7 million less than July 2007, but still the third best July on record.

"Even through revenues are down from last year, this July's revenue was $115.7 million, making it the third best July on record. The July revenue was $7 million less than 2007.

"…June's revenue was the best June ever on the Coast and for the first seven months of the year the Coast casinos are only $6 million behind last year's record-breaking pace…"
