Iowa casino vote bill passes Senate

IOWA – As reported by the Des Moines Register: "Legislation freeing Prairie Meadows and other Iowa casinos from having automatic public votes on gambling every eight years sailed through the Senate today.

"Prairie Meadows officials are seeking relief from the referendum requirement to make it easier to arrange financing for a proposed hotel. They have said that banks would not loan money for a hotel venture with a gambling vote looming.

"…The bill goes to the House for additional consideration."
