South African Gaming Board to Award Casino License

GAUTENG, South Africa – As reported by the (South Africa) Business Day: "The Gauteng Gambling Board said yesterday it would settle the matter of awarding the province's controversial sixth and final casino licence before its new board members took office in two weeks.

"Edward Lalumbe, legal adviser for the board, said the outgoing board members would make a decision tomorrow on whether it would appeal a Pretoria High Court ruling that it award Silverstar Development the licence .

"…The awarding of the licence for the R500m (US$76.5 million) casino development on the West Rand has been mired in legal action since 2000…"
