Foxwoods Opens Premium Slots Lounge

The world's largest casino has now opened a premium players lounge for $5, $10, $25 and $100 slots machine players. Foxwoods Resort Casino, located between Boston and New York City on the Manshantucket Reservation in southeastern Connecticut, added 164 of the high-end machines and now offers a wide variety of favorites including Wheel of Gold and Triple Triples.

BET Holdings Inc., the parent company of Black Entertainment Television (BET), and Hilton Hotels Corp. have announced a joint venture to explore the feasibility of acquiring land to build, develop and operate a gaming facility and related hotel and recreational facilities in Las Vegas, called the BET SoundStage Casino.
 

The Big Market

If you love to gamble and you're heading to the Far East, take note that the Tianjin Xiang Dao Resort and Casino could be up and running as early as March 1997. The Chinese government, despite their strict ban on gambling, announced in September its plans to develop the $200 million casino resort near the northern port city of Tianjin.

Mohegan Sun Slots Producing a Million a Day

Reuters reports that slot machines at Mohegan Sun casino produced more than $1 million a day in revenues in the casino's first three weeks, about the same amount as the nearby Foxwoods resort, says the Hartford Courant.
 

The Federal Commission Will Lead To New Federal Laws

For better or worse, the National Gambling Impact Study Commission has been born. President Clinton signed the bill into law on August 3, 1996. And, it will be two years before the Commission releases its findings. While four of the nine appointees have been suggested, none have yet received final appointment. Now, with the election over, those selections are expected soon.
