Illegal Gambling in Singapore?

Squeaky clean Singapore will have get the cane out again after an "illegal" gambling operation was raided by local police on March 1st. The operation, said by the Straits Times newspaper to be turning over some 30 million Singapore dollars (US$ about 25 million) had a central computer site in a suburban apartment and 10 selling offices throughout the Island State of Singapore.

No Legal Casinos For Thailand

The Interior Minister of Thailand Sanoh Thienthong has been reported as saying the time was not yet right for Thailand to have legal casinos. Mr. Sanoh said there were many details that needed to be considered first and that gaining consensus from the several political parties would have to be achieved before a policy could be decided.

Trump and NYT Custom Publishing, a division of The New York Times Company that produces magazines under contract, launched a new upscale lifestyle magazine distributed to guests in Trump Organization hotels, casinos and other properties. Casino America, Inc. will open a special events center at the Isle of Capri Casino - Lake Charles, Louisiana. Wayne Newton will perform on February 28 as the Center's first headliner. Other performers tentatively scheduled are George Jones, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard.
 

Grand Casinos & Jack Nicklaus Work on Links

Grand Casinos has entered into an agreement with one of golf's premier course designers, Jack Nicklaus, for the design and development of an 18-hole championship golf course on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The course will be part of a major sports complex situated on a 1,750-acre site in Harrison County. The complex will be a shared access facility to service guests of both Grand Casino Gulfport and Grand Casino Biloxi.
