WMS Gaming to Develop Clint Eastwood Games25 August 2004WAUKEGAN, Illinois -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- WMS Gaming Inc., a subsidiary of WMS Industries Inc. (NYSE:WMS), announced today that it has entered into a licensing agreement with famed personality, Clint Eastwood, MGM Consumer Products, and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, for the exclusive North American rights to develop, manufacture and market slot machines based on the celebrity icon's likeness and several of his most famous feature films. WMS anticipates receiving regulatory approvals for the first CLINT EASTWOOD(TM) branded slot machine, which will serve as the flagship game in the Company's video-based wide-area-progressive (WAP) line, in the December 2004 quarter. WMS expects to launch the first jackpot link for this video product in Nevada and Native American markets in January 2005. CLINT EASTWOOD and popular feature film titles from both MGM and Warner Bros. Studios add to the strong library of titles for WMS' growing wide-area-progressive portfolio, which already includes two MONOPOLY® branded titles launched earlier this year as mechanical reel products and a POWERBALL® themed WAP, which the Company expects to introduce later in calendar 2005. The CLINT EASTWOOD video WAP slot machine, which will be previewed at the fourth annual Global Gaming Expo (G2E), WMS Booth #4234 in Las Vegas, October 5-7, has been developed on the Company's CPU-NXT operating system for placement in WMS' award-winning Bluebird gaming cabinet. The first jackpot link on this progressive system is A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS(TM), which has two five-line multi-reel video games: Wanted(TM) and Wild Shot(TM). These games will be available in nickel denomination and will feature jackpots that reset at $250,000 for both the Native American and Nevada links. Future CLINT EASTWOOD video WAP slot machines will be introduced highlighting other characters and roles Mr. Eastwood has portrayed in his films. "We are very pleased to work with Mr. Eastwood, who is one of the most prominent and well-known entertainment personalities in the world, in developing what we believe will be an extensive series of games based on some of his most popular feature film roles," said Brian R. Gamache, President and CEO of WMS Industries. "Mr. Eastwood, in his portrayal of some of the most famous characters in entertainment history, has reached a level of deserved awareness and appreciation that is unrivaled. As such, it is apparent that WMS games based on Mr. Eastwood's likeness and hit feature films in which he starred, are an outstanding asset in the upcoming introduction of the video portion of our wide-area-progressive line. "We are already off to a very strong start in the launch of our first WAP product based on the MONOPOLY franchise and expect that there will be a high level of interest in this new series of games from both our casino partners and their players. Utilizing our CPU-NXT operating system and some of the innovative features of our Bluebird gaming cabinet, including enhanced audio capabilities, our game designers have created a very unique and engaging game that we expect will prove to be popular with players. We expect the worldwide appeal of CLINT EASTWOOD, combined with our creative talents, will help to expand the base of players who play our slot machines." A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS Wild Shot Game Play Based upon the classic Clint Eastwood movie A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, this 5-reel video slot machine sends players back in time to the Old West. There, players team up with the steely-eyed Clint Eastwood character, to win cash the Wild West way, through shooting and gambling. Wild Shot also features three bonus rounds and a chance to win the "Scatter Jackpot." A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS Wanted Game Play This second 5-reel video slot machine based upon the classic Spaghetti Western, A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, is a timeless "good guy vs. bad guy story." With nothing but a trusty six-shooter and Clint Eastwood by their sides, players must rid the town of local villains to earn cash. With audio and visuals from the western cult classic, players become part of the movie as bullets are fired and credits are earned. |
