Wisconsin Casino Managers' Licenses in Limbo20 May 2002WISCONSIN – As reported by the Green Bay Gazette: "Four managers from Oneida Bingo & Casino who were suspended last fall apparently over their role in an unannounced trip to a secure area of the casino will learn next month whether they will receive their gaming licenses back. "On Sept. 24, the tribe's Gaming Commission suspended the gaming licenses of David Webster, who is the interim gaming general manager, and Denise Vigue, assistant gaming manager. "The commission also suspended drop-count manager Jennifer Ven Bellinger, whose license previously expired, and assistant marketing director Amy Gutierrez, who had applied for a license. "The managers argue that they were carrying out a security test and that the commission acted unlawfully. "…`I feel that it's ludicrous to accuse each person of violating the same standard of procedures that pertain to none of the four people and revoke two licenses on that premise and conditionalize the other two,' Gutierrez said. `It's a clear indication that it was a invalid suspension from the beginning.' "…The managers were suspended without pay and aren't allowed to return to the casino. "All gaming employees at the casino are required to have licenses, which follow background checks and are issued by the commission…" |
