West Virginia Tracks Net $420-Million from Slots Machines30 June 2003WEST VIRGINIA -- As reported by the Associated Press: ``West Virginia’s horse and dog tracks are expected to net $420 million from overall revenue of $713-million for the fiscal year ending next week. The four tracks, including Mountaineer Race Track and Charles Town Races, set a new record in May with monthly slot revenue of $72 million, which was an increase of 68% from the same month last year, the Associated Press reports. ``John Finamore, senior vice president of Penn National Gaming, Charles Town’s parent company, credited the growth to recent expansion projects that have added hundreds of slot machines. ``...The four tracks added about 300 slots over the last year to 9,049 total going into June..." |
