Wagerweb.com Offers Odd on Terrell Owens' Playoff Chances

27 January 2005

ZAPOTE, Costa Rica – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Well, until now it was just speculation. If the Eagles got to the Superbowl, would Terrell Owens be able to play? Now that the Eagles are in the big dance, the question that remains is will T.O. be able to give it a go? It is not hard to say that T.O. is one of the biggest reasons that the Eagles are in the Superbowl this season, even though Owens did not play at all in the playoffs. The season that Owens had, and what he did to help make QB Donovan McNabb better, is nothing short of amazing. Many feel that T.O. is the Eagles' MVP this season, including McNabb himself. In a game late in the season against hated rival Dallas, who did not have much to play for, Owens broke his leg, an injury that normally takes at least eight weeks before it is even possible to start running on it.

Not only has it only been just under five weeks -- and will be less than eight by the time of the Superbowl -- Owens doesn't just want to start running, he wants to play in the Superbowl, which even if he is at 50%, would give the Eagles a much better chance at winning the game. In the past 24 hours, the doctor who performed the surgery on Owens has said that he will not medically clear Owens to play in the Superbowl. That does not mean that there is no chance for Owens to play, it just means that the doctor does not want to be held responsible if anything were to happen to T.O. as a result of playing on his injured leg. So will it be a Willis Reed-like effort with Owens limping back on to the field to lead his team to victory, or is this all just more hype for the season's biggest game?

"T.O. has meant so much for the Eagles this year and is a huge reason they are playing in Superbowl XXXIX," said Wagerweb.com CEO Dave Johnson. "We have T.O. to play listed as the favorite right now. We are also giving our customers the opportunity to not only wager on whether he will play or not, but also on what he might do in the game itself. We have already taken a large number of wagers on Owens being named the Superbowl MVP."

WAGERWEB.COM IS PLEASED TO RELEASE ODDS ON: "WILL EAGLES WR TERRELL OWENS PLAY IN SUPERBOWL XXXIX, AND, IF SO, WHAT WILL HE ACCOMPLISH?"
