Tropicana Las Vegas raises $40K for Three Square Food Bank19 June 2017(PRESS RELEASE) -- On Friday evening, Tropicana Las Vegas celebrated the kick-off of the 11th annual Las Vegas Restaurant Week with its 'Summer Cookout featuring Robert Irvine & Friends' presented by Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits. The iconic property partnered with Three Square Food Bank to host a summer camp-inspired affair for adults and raised $40,000, allowing Three Square to provide more than 120,000 meals to food insecure residents of Southern Nevada. "The Summer Cookout was the perfect way to kick-off Las Vegas Restaurant Week," said Aaron Rosenthal, general manager of Tropicana Las Vegas. "One in seven Southern Nevadans struggles with hunger, and we are beyond thrilled that we were able to raise $40,000 for a great cause. Giving back to organizations such as Three Square Food Bank is a community-based effort, and we wouldn't be able to do it without the generosity of our guests." Locals and tourists, along with over 250 military guests, spent the evening poolside with Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine at Tropicana Las Vegas' Sky Beach Club. Guests were treated to a variety of summertime favorite dishes, prepared by restaurants both on and off the Las Vegas Strip. Highlighted dishes included garlic and herb crusted lamb chops; carne asada and pulled chicken tacos; meatballs with a parmesan macadamia nut crisp; snappy frank hot dogs; brownie batter frozen custard and more. Among the participating restaurants were Bacio, El Dorado Cantina, Jayde Fuzion, Papaya King, Portion Control, Oakville Steakhouse, Shake Shack, The Sweet Spot Bake Shop and the highly-anticipated Robert Irvine's Public House. Additional sponsors included Hilton Hotels, Absolut Elyx, Lavazza, Ainsworth Gaming Technology and Red Mercury Entertainment. In addition to the delectable bites, guests were able to imbibe with beer, wine, and cocktails galore, including Chef Irvine's favorite spirit, Patrón Tequila. Sky Beach Club's poolside bar was transformed into a Patrón paradise, offering up refreshing margaritas and tequila shots. Throughout the evening, guests were invited to cheers with Chef Irvine at the specialty bar and later were able to put him to the test with a selection of fun and games. From corn hole to ping pong, guests were able to mix and mingle with Chef Irvine himself, creating the ultimate adult-style summer camp among friends, old and new. "It was an honor to host the first-ever Summer Cookout event benefitting Three Square Food Bank at Tropicana Las Vegas," said Chef Irvine. "To me, there is no greater happiness than a full plate, and by raising funds for such an incredible organization, we are able to give back to the Southern Nevada families in need. Thank you to all the Las Vegas community who joined us at the event. I am excited to soon be a part of the Las Vegas community and continue to share my passion for food." Adding to the excitement, Chef Irvine announced that Robert Irvine's Public House will debut at Tropicana Las Vegas on 27 July. Boasting over 14,000 square-feet, the all-new restaurant will offer a range of comfort food options inspired by Chef Irvine's culinary travels from around the world - all in a pub-like atmosphere. The 275-seat restaurant will feature dishes such as burrata and heirloom tomato salad; chicken wings with option of barbecue sauce or a moonshine glaze; fried buttermilk chicken; a Tomahawk ribeye served tableside and much more. In addition, guests can expect over 100 beers on tap and an array of specialty craft cocktails. Proceeds from the evening benefited Three Square Food Bank in its fight to end hunger in Southern Nevada. Now in its 11th installment, Las Vegas Restaurant Week gives restaurants in the local community the opportunity to give back through the culinary arts. Since 2007, more than 2.5 million meals have been provided for those in need through Restaurant Week. Las Vegas Restaurant Week 2017 will run 19 June through 30 June.
