Tribe to Build Largest Casino in Southern Arizona8 December 2000TUCSON, Arizona—Dec. 8, 2000 – As reported by the Associated Press: "The Pascua Yaqui Tribe is set to break ground next month on the $65 million Casino Del Sol, the largest casino in southern Arizona. "When completed in July 2002, the 242,000-square-foot building will house a new gambling parlor with 500 slot machines, five restaurants, a nightclub, a child-care center for customers, 36 bowling lanes and an amphitheater that seats 4,500. "…The complex will be even larger than the ambitious $52 million casino that the Tohono O'odham Nation is building east of Interstate 19. That facility will cover 180,000 square feet and include retail shops, a bingo hall that will double as a concert venue, a restaurant and meeting rooms…" |
