Top companies submit Kansas proposal27 November 2007KANSAS -- As reported by the Wichita Eagle: "With Wednesday as the deadline, Sumner County officials expect to receive applications from three of the top four casino operators in the world. "Four casino proposals will be turned in to the county clerk's office in Wellington by noon Wednesday, according to the county's economic development commission. "Two each will be proposed for the Wellington and Mulvane interchanges along the Kansas Turnpike. "Harrah's Entertainment, the No. 1 operator in the industry, and No. 2 MGM Mirage will battle for the Mulvane interchange. "No. 4 Penn National Gaming and a group representing the Las Vegas-based Binion Family Trust will submit applications for casinos at the Wellington interchange. "Sumner County commissioners are scheduled to decide next month which plans to endorse. "...Canadian developer Brian Hamm has dropped out of the competition. Hamm, who had been working for more than three years on casino proposals for south-central Kansas, including one for downtown Wichita, couldn't meet Wednesday's deadline, said Tom Docking, a Wichita attorney representing Hamm..."
