Timing's Everything With This Lotto Win1 April 2003VANCOUVER, CANADA -- As reported by the Canadian Press: ``On Saturday morning, Patricia O'Brien had no job, no home, no car and no plans. ``By yesterday afternoon, the former word-processing operator was flushed pink with excitement . . . and fine champagne. Winning the biggest lottery jackpot in B.C. history will do that to a person. ``O'Brien is one of 20 co-workers -- all women -- who hit the jackpot in Friday's Lotto Super 7 draw. The group, which works together at the Vancouver office of the Labour Relations Board, won a record $22 million -- $1.1 million each. ``Great timing for O'Brien, 36, single and unattached. Last Wednesday was her final day at work. She was the last of a dozen people laid off recently at the LRB due to provincial government cutbacks. ``...O'Brien said waves of elation flooded through her as the win sank in. "I was elated and shaking and screaming. Then I was smiling and having a normal conversation. Then it would hit me again. ``...Amazingly, none of the women plans to quit work. ``...'This couldn't have happened to a better bunch of people," she said..." |
