The Reel Life

21 January 2010

It seems like the economic recession has lasted a lifetime, and we here at The Reel Life have had to limit our time at the online slots. We've been able to avoid committing armed robbery to fund our habit, but an Ohio man found out twice isn't nice when trying to score some cash.

According to WLWT, police in Hamilton have arrested a man who had an unsuccessful day trying to rob two establishments. Police say that James W. Buttery, 39, attempted to rob a Subway restaurant by jumping the counter and stealing the cash register. He was pushed away by a clerk and fled the scene.

A mere 30 minutes later, police say Buttery entered a Family Dollar Store and "told the clerk that he intended to rob the store and displayed the outline of a gun against his jacket." The man tried to open the register but was unsuccessful. He then fled the scene.

Police arrested Buttery a day later and he will be charged with two counts of attempted robbery.

A small part of The Reel Life admires Buttery's tenacity. Another part has to wonder how dumb someone must be to be unsuccessful at robbing a Subway and a Family Dollar Store.
