Table Mountain Casino Donates to Golf Club

25 October 2004

FRESNO, California – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Table Mountain Casino's $10,690 donation keeps the golf program alive at Sierra High Golf Club. With the reduced state budget for extracurricular programs, the golf program at Sierra High School was cut two years ago forcing the school to turn it into a Club Sport, not funded through the school budget.

Table Mountain Casino recently sponsored the Save Mart Shootout at the Riverbend Golf Club, attracting several golf professionals and celebrity guests. At the event, Table Mountain Casino hosted the Chip for Charity to raise funds for the Sierra High Golf Club as a thank you from the many tribal members who attended the school in past years.

"We are eternally grateful to Table Mountain Casino for their support and appreciate the thought that went into aiding Sierra High Golf Club with this funding," said Rob Hayden, athletic director of Sierra High School. "This money will keep us going for the year even providing us with some cushion."

The Sierra High Golf Club was established about nine years ago. There is both a girl's and a boy's team, each consisting of about eight to ten students. The golf coach is Frank Ketcham, the retired head of Physical Education. Sierra High School is located in Tollhouse, California, within the foothills outside of Fresno.

Save Mart Shootout tournament attendees were encouraged to visit the Chip for Charity area behind the 18th green during the two-day event where their $5 donations were matched with a $10 casino chip good only at Table Mountain Casino. The Chip for Charity participant who made it closest to the hole won a round of golf for four at Pebble Beach Golf Links, ranked the No. 1 Public Course in America by Golf Digest in 2003 - 2004. The second closest participant won $250 in Table Mountain Casino chips and third closest won $100 in chips.

Located just 15 minutes outside of Fresno on Friant Road, Table Mountain Casino features bingo, over 35 table games including Blackjack, Fortune Pai Gow, No Limit Hold'em Poker, Spanish 21, 3-Card Poker, and Let it Ride, as well as over 1,650 slot machines. Two award-winning restaurants featuring international and regional choices are available to guests.

Host to some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, Table Mountain Casino welcomes Grammy Award winning country musician Dwight Yoakam to its Entertainment Center on December 5, 2004. Ticket prices are $35 for VIP seating, $25 for reserved seating and $15 for general admission. Members of The Club also receive $5 discount with their club card.

Table Mountain Casino is proud to support local charities that serve the people of Fresno as well as the entire San Joaquin Valley community including Central California Blood Center, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Big Brother and Big Sisters, and many more.
