SureFire to Cut Jobs as Online Gambling Slows31 March 2002CANADA -- March 29, 2002 -- As reported by the (Toronto) Globe and Mail:``SureFire Commerce Inc. says it plans to cut 120 jobs as a result of a slowdown in the on-line gambling industry. ``The Montreal-based company, which provides business-to-business on-line payment systems, said it will record a $3-million restructuring charge in the fourth quarter, and will post a loss in the quarter. ``...The company added on-line gambling remains a long-term growth industry, but recent U.S. developments have hurt short and mid-term prospects..." |
