Sun International Considers Expansion in Angola, UK

3 September 2004

SOUTH AFRICA – As reported by IOL: "Sun International is considering building a casino in Luanda, Angola, that would include a hotel, spa and conference centre in a very attractive location, Peter Bacon, the chief executive, disclosed yesterday.

"This forms part of the group's future expansion plans and includes extending its activities to the UK, granted the expected changes in Britain's gaming laws take place.

"…Mozambique also had 'considerable potential'. The drawback was a lack of infrastructure.

"…Concerning the UK, he said Sun International intended to establish a gaming group with casino complexes along the lines of the GrandWest in Cape Town, including hotels and restaurants, in towns across the UK…"
