LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) - Sportsbook.com is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the inaugural Big Stakes Match Play Golf competition. The tournament is offering one of the largest purses in the history of golf, topping even the 2004 Masters, and a world-record payout of $3 million to the winning pair.

"Big Stakes Match Play by Sportsbook.com" reflects the growing popularity of gambling on the sport of golf in North America. From friendly bets on the green and locker room challenges, online wagering on golf has increased nearly 80 per cent in the past three years according to Sportsbook.com.

Big Stakes is an event created for golf enthusiasts - touring professionals are not allowed to play. And further, unlike PGA tournaments, Big Stakes competitors will have their own money on the line - $100,000 per two-person team. Each partner puts up $50,000 from friends, business associates or individually with the hopes of coming away with the winners' share of $3 million.

The 2005 Big Stakes Match Play Golf Competition will be held at the CasaBlanca Resort & Casino in Mesquite, Nevada from May 9-15, 2005 and highlights televised on the Golf Channel from Memorial Day weekend till June 1.
