South African Casino Opens Ahead of Schedule

SOUTH AFRICA – As reported by the South Africa Business Day: "The R727m Sibaya casino and entertainment complex is on track for its opening towards the end of next month, soundly beating a December 1 deadline set by the provincial gaming board.

"Sun International and black empowerment partner Afrisun won the rights to develop a casino, entertainment and hotel complex near Umdloti on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast. The temporary facility at Mount Edgecombe has been operating since 2001, and will continue until Sibaya opens its doors.

"The first 36-room luxury boutique hotel is being commissioned and construction of a second 120-room hotel will begin next year. Landscape gardening and water features are on schedule, while the cultural village promises to be a major drawcard…"
