Small Texas Towns On Lips of Gamblers

TEXAS – As reported by the Houston Chronicle: "Here's a note from one of the customers who doesn't want his name in the paper.

"He writes that he was in a casino in Las Vegas (I guess he wasn't supposed to be there) watching the action at a crap table and he heard a big fellow talking to the dice, using a rhyming expression. Writer of the note has been trying to recall the exact words. He understands they are Texas town names.

"Well, that sounds like one of the most common of all crapshooter cries, `Tennyhaw, Timpson, Bobo and Blair.'

"Three or four decades ago, when I was interested in gambling and paying attention to the dialect of gamblers, I heard many dice players call the names of those four Texas places when they were trying to make the point of 10."
