Shuffle Master, WMS Gaming Settle Lawsuits

LAS VEGAS--(Press Release)-- Shuffle Master, Inc. (Nasdaq: SHFL) announced today that WMS Gaming, Inc. and it have reached a settlement in the lawsuit filed by WMS relating to Shuffle Master's conversion kits for WMS gaming machines and WMS's allegations that Shuffle Master infringed WMS's secondary event selection patents, and in the lawsuit by Shuffle Master relating to WMS's alleged infringement of Shuffle Master's Second Event Multiplier patent. All claims in both lawsuits have been settled, the lawsuits have been dismissed, and the preliminary injunction obtained by WMS relating to a particular bonus round feature has been dissolved.

In settling the lawsuits, WMS and Shuffle Master have cross-licensed their respective game bonus method patents that were allegedly infringed. Additionally, subject to certain confidential terms and conditions, WMS has consented to Shuffle Master's use of certain WMS trade dress in connection with the conversion of up to 10,000 WMS gaming machines.

Shuffle Master, Inc. is a gaming equipment supply company that develops, manufactures and markets innovative technology-based products and services to the casino industry, including card shufflers and other table gaming equipment, table and slot games, and gaming machine software and related hardware.
