Shuffle Master Files Lawsuit Against Vending Data

5 October 2004

LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Shuffle Master, Inc. (NASDAQ National Market: SHFL), announced today that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against VendingData Corporation's new PokerOne shuffler. The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada in Las Vegas. The patent infringement suit alleges that the use, importation and offering for sale of the PokerOne shuffler infringed Shuffle Master's U.S. Patent Number 6,655,684.

Mark Yoseloff, Shuffle Master's Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board said: "Shuffle Master treats its intellectual property as one of its most valuable assets. Two years ago, when Shuffle Master saw that VendingData's Random Ejection shuffler infringed two of Shuffle Master's other patents, we filed suit, and we are currently aggressively pursuing that litigation against VendingData on those two patents. Now that VendingData has chosen to market its PokerOne shuffler in the United States, we have brought this new lawsuit against VendingData. Shuffle Master intends to vigorously pursue this infringement action and will continue to protect and preserve its patent rights against anyone who infringes or violates those rights."
