Showboat Opens $90 Million Tower22 May 2003ATLANTIC CITY – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Showboat Casino-Hotel officially opened a $90 million, 544-room hotel tower Wednesday, an addition the property expects will help it attract a larger share of the city's gaming revenue. "…Showboat opened the tower in stages over the past two weeks and the final rooms in the 19-story addition were brought online last weekend, said Dave Jonas, Harrah's senior vice president of Atlantic City operations. He said the new rooms were necessary to accommodate increased demand at the casino hotel, which has operated at 99 percent occupancy this year. "…Showboat also is in the process of expanding its casino, entertainment and restaurant areas along the Boardwalk. The renovation is designed to accommodate an expected increase in customers while also improving the property's Boardwalk facade. "A new slot area consisting of 450 machines will be open by summer, Jonas said. An open-air bar and lounge with dance floor, expanded restaurant and new food court all will be phased in during the next six months…" |
